Gday Everyone

Simon checking in here, I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to everyone who has visited the shop, website, blog etc over the past 12 months. Also wanted to say a Merry Christmas and an adventure, fun filled and awesome New Year to you all.

Nikki, Talia (our latest family addition, 3 months old today) and myself would like to take the opportunity to say a HUGE thanks for the support, stories, enthusiasm and laughs from many of you guys in the past 12 months.

All things considered we had a great first year of running the shop and kayak school here in Calgary and this is in large part to all of you, so for that we are super grateful.

We’ve had a great (busy) year and look forward to the years ahead and hope we can keep up the ‘good job’ that many of you have commented on. So again a MASSIVE thanks to you all and I hope you all get plenty of good skiing, snowshoeing or travelling in over the winter months and we look forward to hearing from/seeing you all in the Spring....

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Paddle Junkies - Kenya 2009

November 13th, 2009

Things are definitely winding down.......we had another great day on the Tana River yesterday, with levels dropping at the moment we are leaving at just the right time.

The dropping levels have been a blessing for sure as it has opened up a bunch of the bigger upstream rapids. We have had people 'going off', paddling so well, the Mission waterfall, Raging Thunder waterfal, Captains Folly, Can of Worms, Flexor and Spasm have all seen multiple descents. It is super cool to see.......

Today we have a half day of paddling before heading back to Nairobi, though there are a lot of sore and tired bodies, so I think the numbers on the river might be quite low, we will see though.

Thanks for checking in on the blog throughout the trip out here, its been super fun reflecting each day and putting it into words. I hope you enjoyed reading it.

Keep the blog saved in your favorites as it will continue to be updated with our winter trips and personal adventures

Paddle Junkies - Kenya 2009

November 10th, 2009

Gday guys, sorry its been awhile between posts, we had very limited cell reception in Samburu (so my blackberry was useless) and I didn't get around to getting on a computer.

So since last update a lot has happened. We spent 3 days at the awesome Samburu Serena game lodge, basically over indulging on food, sitting by the pool and doing game drives.

We had a super successful 3 days on the game front, seeing leopard, lions, cheetah, reticulated giraffe, elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, impala, oryx, water buck, colobus monkeys, gerinook, grants gazelles, dik diks, ostrich, leopard tortoises and a whole bunch more. The weather was hot and dry and the team had a great few days.

Today we were back at it with a full decent of the Tana River, it really was nice to be back in the boats and to not be sitting around all day, eating and driving.....the level has dropped a bunch from the HIGH flows we had before the safari, so some bigger rapids became runnable today with a few people even running the 30 foot Mission waterfall.

Today was a great day, with loads of sunshine, great lines and warm water, an awesome day of paddling. We will likely be back on the Tana again tomorrow (due to water levels) so will keep you posted on that.

Everyone says hi to family and friends back at home......

Happy adventures

Simon
